Captain America Movie Rumor: The Actor who will play Cap?

Reading from an interesting report from Mania.com about an easter egg within the recent summer movie, the Incredible Hulk, soon to come next week in wide DVD/Bluray release. It was very amusing and very clever on the director’s part. I checked out few other sites for any rumor about the Captain America movie that Marvel Studios is working on for the 2011 release. One rumor had Will Smith has been offered to play Captain America but Will Smith himself debunked that.

Then I saw this new rumor. There’s a picture of this actor and I thought, “Hmm….”. He has the right look and the right persona of the super-soldier Steve Roger but he doesn’t have the right physique (think of Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson’s physique) of the Sentinel of Liberty. Maybe he might have to spend the whole year of working out and bulking up with a world-renown fitness trainer before he could step into the big red boots. The late Christopher Reeve did that before he dons the red cape as Superman many years ago.

Without much further ado, I’ll give you the actor who may play Captain America, if you just click on the image below to see the actor himself:

Currently, Mark Valley (highlight to see his name) the actor is casted as a bad guy on this new and spooky FOX TV show called “Fringe” (Tuesday night at 9 pm on FOX). We’ll have to see whether the rumor may be true or not. He could be born to play the role of Captain America. Seem like the right, logical choice to me.

Iron Man a blockbuster gold!

Marvel finally did this right and nailed it perfectly. After several years of relying on Hollywood to produce Marvel-based superhero characters (and villians) for the big screens, there have been few great hits and several disappointments. Iron Man is the first independently produced film to be made by Marvel Studios without any Hollywood influence (except for sole distribution by Paramount). Marvel got the perfect director who understand the concept and what its represents well and the perfect actor to play the alcoholic, playboy billionaire who’s a hi-tech wunderkind, gambled on their talents and paid off handsomely well: a recorded $104.2 million opening since its debut Thursday, after rave film reviews and words of mouth helping it. What a blast-off for what I think could be the best summer season for Hollywood in a long time, with some impressive-looking potential blockbuster films coming soon, especially Speed Racer, Indiana Jones and Batman!

I did saw the movie yesterday with my brother and was totally blown away by it. Robert Downey Jr. really nailed the character of Tony Stark perfectly, given that both the actor and the fictional character suffered tormented demons in them. I was really astonished by the sheer and near-realistic level of visual effects of making the Iron Man come to life, as you can see in the image above. The Iron Man’s hi-tech armor is just top-notch! Kudos to the visual effect teams of ILM, the Orphanage and the Embassy.

I plan to see this movie again when a captioned version come out. I have two reasons for a movie I really wanted to see twice: one to see the movie for its visual/special effects the first time so I wanted to absorb them and be dazzled by them and the second to see the movie in captions later on. I’m a long-time fan of movies’ visual and special effects, because the amount of works, talent and creativity that goes into them are just mind-blowing and overwhelming.

How apt is that this year is the 45th anniversary of Iron Man since its first appearance in Tales of Suspense no. 39. If you’re planning to see the movie, be sure to stay on after the roll of credits, you’ll see Tony Stark getting a surprise visit from one of my favorite Marvel characters: COL. FURY!

It is rumored that Robert Downey Jr. will make a cameo appearance as Tony Stark in the upcoming Marvel film, the Incredible Hulk.

Still, I wanted to see the mighty Thor and Captain America on the big screens. It’ll be interesting to see how Marvel Studios turn them out.
